Scott Schultz
At the USTA, Scott led a large cross-functional industry team to reinvent kids tennis that resulted in red-orange green balls, new 36 and 60 ft courts, and new ways to teach youngsters. Scott also created USTA-U, USTA's education division that focused on upgrading and improving coach education in the United States.
Scott was the former and founding Managing Director USTA’s new professional development initiative that will help prepare the next generation of tennis providers. A new division, named USTA-U will provide resources, education and training to everyone who delivers tennis including tennis professionals, coaches, and organizers and parents.
USTA-U partners with colleges and universities across the country to offer curricula in coaching tennis, management, hospitality and sport science. The program also offers online and in-classroom instruction as well as apprenticeships and experiential learning
opportunities.
Prior to this role, Schultz led USTA’s Youth Tennis Division at the USTA responsible for the 10 and under tennis initiative, schools, play days, team tennis and
junior competition.
Before joining the USTA in 2003, Schultz founded Ferris State University’s Professional Tennis Management program (PTM), the nation’s first bachelor degree program in tennis. He served as the program’s Director from 1987 to 1998 & then as a full professor in the University’s College of Business from 1998 to 2003.
Schultz also served as Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance at Ferris State University. He was responsible for all University business units including Intercollegiate Athletics, Housing, Dining, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Holiday Inn and Conference Center, Katke Golf Course, Racquet and Fitness Club, and Ice Arena.
Schultz was the Head Men’s and Women’s Varsity Tennis coach from 1982 through1988. His teams won 12 GLIAC championships during that time and were regularly ranked in the top 20 in the country in Division II. Schultz was the founder of the Ferris State Tennis Camps that became one of the largest camps in the country.
Schultz played four years of varsity tennis at Western Michigan University and graduated in 1977 with a B.S. in Business/Marketing. He earned a M.S. in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University in 1995.
Wayne Elderton
Wayne Elderton is acknowledged as one of Canada’s leading coaches. He is Head of Tennis Canada Coaching Development and Certification in British Columbia. In this role, he has provided coaching training to thousands of coaches.
He is a main contributor to the Tennis Canada Coaching Certification program and has also written articles and coaching materials for the PTR, Tennis Corporation of America, Tennis Australia, and the International Tennis Federation. He is a popular speaker at coaching conferences world-wide.
He is a Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC) as recognized by the Professional coaching association, Coaches of Canada.

Wayne has enjoyed considerable success in his career using the Game-Based approach. As a High Performance coach, he has led Team British Columbia players to gold medals in the Canada and Western Canada Games. He has also coached 3 wheelchair players to top 10 world rankings and has coached Canada’s World Team Cup Men’s squad (Davis Cup for Wheelchair players). He is a key builder of the Canadian National Wheelchair Team program and created Tennis Canada’s Wheelchair Instructor Course.
In 2006 he was inducted into the City of Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame in the coaching category.
He is currently Tennis Director at the North Vancouver Tennis Centre (formerly named the Grant Connell Tennis Centre) which was awarded the 2005 Canadian Facility of the Year for program excellence by the Tennis Professionals Association.

Todd Ellenbecker
Todd S. Ellenbecker, MS, DPT, SCS, OCS, CSCS, is a physical therapist and clinic director of Physiotherapy Associates Scottsdale Sports Clinic in Arizona and is the vice president of medical services for the ATP World Tour.
He received his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse in 1985 and a master's degree in exercise physiology from Arizona State University in 1989. He completed his doctor of physical therapy from MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2006. In addition, he is certified as a sport clinical specialist and orthopedic clinical specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association.
He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and was named their Sports Medicine Professional of the Year in 2003.
Dr. Ellenbecker is the chair of the International Tennis Performance Association Certification Commission and a certified USPTA tennis teaching professional and was the chairman of the USTA National Sport Science Committee for more than a decade and still serves as a committee member. T

Adam Ford
Adam is the co-Director of the Hope College Professional Tennis Management (PTM) program. Previously he served as the men’s and women’s varsity tennis coach at Hope as well as being the head professional at the DeWitt Tennis Center. Adam is a USTA high-performance certified coach and has developed many nationally ranked players. He was a two-time state champion at Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central High School. He played tennis for four years at Division I Northern Illinois University. Often recognized by his peers, Adam is in a unique position to lead the College’s PTM program.
Mike Woody
Mike Woody joined the Genesis Health Clubs Executive Team in late 2015. He oversees tennis operations for a total of 7 clubs. Mike’s role is to inspire, lead, and train a team of 30+ tennis professionals who lead programming on a total of 48 indoor tennis courts.
Before Genesis Health Clubs, Mike was the Executive Director of the Greater Midland Tennis Center for over 22 years and Vice President of Operations for Greater Midland, INC. As the Executive Director, Mike lead a cast of 40 team members who delivered creative tennis programs through innovative marketing and communication tactics. His managing of a 39 court tennis complex (16 indoor/ 23 outdoor) involved directing the longest standing USTA Pro Circuit Women’s Event, overseer of 20 National, Sectional, Collegiate, and local events. Mike is an expert in the development of tennis and grass roots programming, he has developed and administered 4 additional park and recreation programs congruent with the Center’s operations. Butch Staples
Butch Staples is currently the National Tennis Director for Midtown Athletic Clubs, which owns and operates 7 clubs around the United States and one in Montreal, Quebec.
He is a PTR Master Professional, a USPTA Professional 1 and a Tennis Canada certified coach. From 1982-1989, he was Chairman of Tennis Canada’s Coach and Instructor Development Committee. He has been a USTA RCW and 10 and Under Trainer since the inception of these programs and he is currently a USTA Master Trainer. He was named USTA Trainer of the Year in both 2006 and 2009. In recent years Butch has been recognized for his industry involvement being honored as the 2009 USPTA Midwest Pro of the Year, 2009 PTR Clinician of the Year and 2010 PTR Pro of the Year. As a result of his work in youth tennis and his application of scientific principles in his teaching, Butch was awarded the 2009 USOC “Doc” Counsilman Science Award. Also, he was a co-recipient of the 2010 RSI Junior Tennis Champion Award.
Butch spent 8 years with Tennis Corporation of America (TCA) as Director of Tennis at the Midtown club in Weston Florida and the Head Tennis Professional at Midtown Tennis Club in Chicago. While at Midtown Chicago, he led a team of 34 professionals, helped build the largest indoor tennis programs in the country and was instrumental in developing the model for 10 and under tennis programming. Midtown juniors were the poster children for USTA Youth Tennis. As a testimony to his success, five of his young players were selected to play between the quarter final matches of the US Open in 2010 and four participated in the stadium show of the Arthur Ashe Kids Day.
Butch began his tennis coaching career after graduating from college with a B.A., a B.P.E. and an M.S. He spent 4 years teaching primary, elementary and secondary physical education and then spent 10 years on the athletic staff at McGill University in Montreal where he coached Tennis and Basketball.

Greg Patton
Boise State men’s tennis has become a familiar player on the national collegiate tennis scene thanks in large part to head coach Greg Patton, who is in his 22nd season overall at the helm of the program and 16th since he returned in 2003 after a short four year break to work with USA Tennis. During Patton’s tenure he has led Boise State to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, 14 conference tournament titles in four different leagues and an overall record of 448-199.
Patton has put together an impressive 799-392 career record over 37 years as a collegiate head coach, which currently ranks him first nationally for most wins by an active NCAA Division I men’s tennis coach and fourth all-time.
Since returning to Boise State in 2003, Patton has guided the team to four-consecutive Mountain West Tournament Championships (2012-15) during its first four seasons in the conference. He also earned Western Athletic Conference titles in four of nine seasons (2003, 2005-07), as well as a WAC regular-season championship in 2009.
During Patton’s 21-year tenure with the Broncos he has coached five players to All-America status, including Luke Shields twice in singles (2005 and 2007) and once in doubles (2005), Thomas Schoeck in doubles (2005) with Shields, Guillame Bouvier in singles (2004), as well as the doubles team of Ernesto Diaz and Albin Polonyi (1996). In addition, he has coached six conference players of the year: Ernesto Diaz (Big Sky 1996 and Big West 1997), Luke Shields (WAC 2007), Clancy Shields (WAC 2009), James Meredith (WAC 2010) and Andy Bettles (MW 2013). He has also coached five conference freshman of the year, while 44 of his players have combined for 113 all-conference honors (81 first team and 32 second team).
While successfully leading the Bronco program, Patton has captured many individual honors including being inducted into four different hall of fames: UC Irvine Athletic Hall of Fame (2000), Boise State University Athletic Hall of Fame (2001), Idaho Tennis Association Hall of Fame (2013) and USTA Intermountain Region Hall of Fame (2015). He has been named the NCAA National Coach of the Year (1997), USPTA College Tennis Coach of the Year (2013), Intercollegiate Tennis Association Region Coach of the Year five times (1994, 1997, 2004, 2012, 2014) and a conference coach of the year 10 times spanning four leagues: Mountain West (2012), Western Athletic Conference (2005-07 and 2009), Big West (1997) and Big Sky (1993-96). In addition he has received the USTA Intermountain Tennis Association Lifetime Achievement Award (2013), Keys to the City of Boise (2013) and the USTA/NCAA National Community Service Award twice (1997 and 2003).
Patton is credited with turning Boise State into a national tennis power since his arrival in 1993. In his first season at the reigns of the Broncos, Patton led the team to its first conference championship since 1974. His success did not stop there as Boise State won the Big Sky four consecutive seasons (1993-96) and the Big West Championship its first year in the league (1997). During the 1997 season Boise State was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation and went to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships, finishing fifth in the process.

Scott McCulloch, a native of Sydney, Australia holds a bachelors degree in Sports Management from Sutherland College. Kirk Anderson is the former Department Director for Coach Education at the United States Tennis Association. He is one of only ten people world-wide that is a Master Professional with the USPTA and a International Master Professional with the PTR.
